Benny Craig Park is a simple neighborhood park that occupies 22 acres of low-lying land. The park is in the southwestern part of the city, just a stone's throw away from one of the principal branches of Fourche Creek. It was initially called Gum Springs Park until it was renamed in honor of the local sportscaster, Benny Craig.
